The FiltX system - focused on the Global Climate challenge

Filtx has explored the issues we currently face on a global scale and discovered that there is a way to become carbon neutral through environmentally friendly solutions.

The Climate, Land, Population, Science, Accreditation and Value.

Buildings and Urban development in the UK currently occupies less than 2% of the total landmass, The UK government plans to plant trees on 500 km2 per year to meet the targets set for 2030 emissions, that’s roughly the same size as the City of Durham or 15% of all farmland over the next 10 years.

  • The UK population is growing ~0.5% per year so the gap in food production will grow wider as we use up to 20% of agricultural land for tree planting we will need to import over 73% of our food.

  • How effective is tree planting for carbon sequestration—the carbon ratio is the critical measure and is subject to diverse regimes of species, land, location and rate of growth—arbitrarily we can use 25kg’s of carbon per year per tree as an average measure of Co2 offset.

  • Can we grow enough trees? Given our existing nurseries can’t grow enough plants for the UK market!

  • Fundamentally UK forestry planting is not included in the “Emissions Trading System” and restricts the carbon offset capability to the UK’s “Woodland Carbon Code” and therefore this is a potential missed opportunity for a return on investment.

  • Will farmers and landowners adopt a regime of tree-planting against the opportunity to grow more valuable produce for our local markets—biofuels, food and livestock. Tree planting is a long term cash sink and devalues the land significantly as its return-on-investment and payback time is severely impacted.

  • The climate problem is complex and the tree planting initiative will not deliver the carbon neutral objective for our country in its current form, we need more creativity and innovation to meet the challenge.

Vertical Growing

Vertical growing systems solves some of the key challenges:

  • We currently occupy  ~3% of the earth for urban living that we could     potentially       harness a large proportion of it for additional vertical

  • growing without the need to impact agricultural land further for growing Trees.

  • Vertical farming uses a minimum of 10 times more accessible planting area compared with conventional land planting, assuming a 2m high structure and a 0.2 m2  footprint for the vertical growing system.

  • With 24.2m domestic dwellings in the UK having an average garden border / fence line of ~40m, the opportunity to grow at 2m high = 80m2 of vertical growing system. Or ~1.94bn m2  or 1.9m km2  of equivalent growing land or the equivalent of 15m trees being planted each year or ~380m tonnes of CO2 sequested (assuming each  m2  of growing wall yields 10% of an equivalent tree) every year.

The FiltX Solution

The FiltX system is designed to support a self-sufficient ecological micro growing system, the purpose is to enable users to grow plants or produce and create a micro-agriconomy while mining carbon / GHG credits with every harvest.

  • The ROI (Environment) of the FiltX vertical growing system is 10 times more cost effective than the equivalent solar panel investment.

  • The FiltX growing system can produce numerous agricultural and horticultural products for the local or national economy, our technology allows a user to define their objectives for the best yield—cash crop, pollution buster and carbon credit accumulator etc. Our onboard AI will calculate the best planting regime and maintenance schedule while our ML will ensure the correct crops are planted for your area and location. You are in control of your agriconomy via the FiltX software.

  • The environmental benefits; all FiltX products are all Carbon negative within 3 years, by offsetting Carbon and GHG’s via direct activity and indirect activity while we are perfectly aligned to the principles of the circular economy with local supply and local produce.

  • The ROI (financial) is less than three years, environmental return is also less than 3 years. Lifecycle; in excess of 25 years. Resulting in ~22 years of solid financial and environmental return on your investment.

  • The product—is manufactured with 100% biodegradable materials, supported by solar powered irrigation and water harvesting system.

  • FiltX provide the solution for a greener, cleaner and more environmentally friendly future.
